Job Description

Position Summary

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Project Accountant to support operational and financial accounting activities across inventory, fixed assets, project costing, and the general ledger. This role will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost tracking, and inventory management while contributing to month-end close and ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial transactions and reporting.
  • Track and reconcile inventory balances while investigating inventory variances and discrepancies.
  • Support inventory costing activities, including standard costs, inventory adjustments, and valuation reviews.
  • Assist with project and job cost tracking to ensure costs are accurately captured and reported.
  • Monitor manufacturing-related expenses and partner with operations to analyze cost trends.
  • Manage fixed asset records, including asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation schedules.
  • Perform fixed asset reconciliations and ensure compliance with company capitalization policies.
  • Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and related inventory reporting.
  • Analyze production and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting schedules for internal and external auditors.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives designed to enhance accounting accuracy and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing, construction, or distribution environment.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working within ERP systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, distribution, construction, or project-based accounting experience.
  • Exposure to inventory accounting, cost accounting, or fixed assets.
  • Experience with job costing or project accounting.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar platforms.
